This original light box controller was one of many control devices that hooked up to the miles of fiber optic cable run on the film The Abyss. This air cooled box would have had the fiber optic cable attached to the hole in the front. Once switched on the color wheel spins causing the Alien NTI to strobe with vibrant colors. This is one of the few pieces left from The Abyss and a key component to make the NTI's design work.

An American nuclear submarine is attacked (during the cold war) and crashes underwater.
